Our terroir
An affair with Nature!
An unspoiled haven of Nature
The Domaine de la Fouquette at the Mayon sits in a wild and preserved natural setting.
It is an exceptional environment where umbrella pines, cork oaks, and chestnut groves share the territory with 180 protected species.
Our vineyard, certified organic by Ecocert, is classified as Complementary Geographical Denomination (DGC) of the Côtes de Provence AOP label (Labelled Origin Designation).
The uniqueness of a terroir
A Complementary Geographic Designation is a label granted by the INAO (National Institute of Origins and Quality). This label is specific to the wines produced on the part of an AOC territory.
It highlights the specificity of a terroir, i.e., the interactions between a natural environment (soil, weather conditions) and the producers’ know-how.
We elaborate our wines following various strict requirements detailed in the DGC specifications (selection of the parcel, choice of grape varieties and blending rules, lowers yields, and vinification method).
Notre Dame des Anges DGC
Notre Dame des Anges is the name of the Complementary Geographic Designation. It refers to the highest point of the Maures massif that one can see from any location in the whole territory.
It is defined by a wide diversity of soils and a Mediterranean climate with continental influence (cool and humid winters and scorching and dry summers).
This typicality is the cornerstone of the balance and the epitome of the Notre-Dame des Anges wines and Domaine de la Fouquette.
The thermal amplitude linked to this climate allows achieving very nice phenolic maturities while preserving the acidity of the berries.
